MEDIA RELEASE

SIME Darby Plantation, the plantation arm of Sime Darby Berhad based in Malaysia, today completed the acquisition of New Britain Palm Oil Limited (NBPOL).

"This is a historic day for Sime Darby,” said Sime Darby Berhad president Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh.

“NBPOL was founded by Harrisons & Crosfield, the company that was part of a merger that created the Sime Darby of today, the world's biggest producer of certified sustainable palm oil.

“It is a family reunion of sorts.”

Over the next few months, Sime Darby Plantation will focus on integrating the operations of both companies. NBPOL provides a strategic fit to SDP with its track record in sustainability as all of its production is certified sustainable.

"As a well-managed company with an experienced management team, NBPOL will immediately contribute to the bottom line of Sime Darby Plantation," said managing director Datuk Franki Anthony Dass.

“We have been working on identifying the synergies and our immediate priority will be to unlock value from these.”

NBPOL also provides the opportunity for Sime Darby Plantation to grow its operations in Europe. NBPOL's Liverpool refinery will complement SDP's refinery in the Netherlands.

"NBPOL has a long standing commitment to sustainability, similar to Sime Darby Plantation," said Nick Thompson, CEO of NBPOL.

“This is a union of like-minded organisations and we're excited to be part of the Sime Darby family.”

Sime Darby Plantation is the plantation and agri-business arm of the Sime Darby Group - a Malaysian-based diversified Multinational Corporation with businesses in five key growth sectors, as well as operations in 26 countries worldwide.

Sime Darby Plantation is a client of Jackson PR Associates, of which Keith Jackson is a director
