DALE DIGORI
An entry in the Crocodile Prize
Kina Securities Award for Poetry
From the day I first met you, I felt the connection
Through the love, laughter, concern and affection
Best friends we were soon to become
Sharing tears, secrets – and gossips, just being dumb
A friend like you is still so hard to find
Someone so alike, we almost shared the same mind
But like a clown, I put on a show
Smiling above pain just so nobody will know
We were supposed to grow up together
You the ‘family-man’, I your kids’ awesome godfather
There are some things we just should not question
Only God alone knows the reason
Still with each day it’s you I miss
Brother-from-another-mother rest in peace
